Tinnitus Don't Let it Beat You, Learn How to Fight Back!

Any noise such as swishing,Tinnitus Terminator ringing, etc that appears to have originated in the head or the ears is called tinnitus. It's not a very serious problem however. In most cases, it can be a nuisance or an irritation to the sufferer. In almost every case the person who is suffering from it can hear noises. It's not actually a disease or a syndrome but a symptom or a sign of another underlying condition. Nearly thirty six million Americans suffer from this disorder.

Causes of Tinnitus Tinnitus can occur in areas like the inner ear, middle ear, outer ear or due to abnormalities in brain. Some head noises or sounds are normal and a person can become aware of these normal sounds by going to a sound proof room or booth where outside noises are diminished. People are not often aware of their normal bodily sounds as they are masked by outside noises. Wax or any other foreign body in the external ear can block the background noise. A disease of the middle ear or the tympanic membrane (ear drum), can also lead to the development of tinnitus.

Damaged microscopic endings of our hearing nerves present in our inner ear are the most popular cause of tinnitus. Aging in humans, is accompanied by deterioration of the hearing nerve which can lead to this condition. Exposure to loud noises is another common cause of the ringing sound and in some cases it also results in damaged hearing. In some rare situations, tinnitus can also be a sign of serious problems such as an acoustic tumour (brain tumour) or an aneurysm. This is why it is crucial to take steps in preventing it.
